The Basics

Event Name: Discover India 2015

Date, time and Venue: March 8th, 1 pm to 5 pm at Vineland Public Library, 1450 Blossom Hill Rd, San Jose, CA

Entry Fee: $1/ participant. Audience entry is free. Fee goes towards hall rental. A portion of any extra entry fee collected beyond the hall rental will be donated to local charities.

Refreshments: Like with all CIC events, refreshments (tea, lemonade, snack) will be available for a small price ($1-$2)

Start Time: Event will start at 1:00 pm sharp when I explain the rules to everyone. There are a lot of teams and lots of questions. If we dont get started on time, we will end up dragging the event finish. Most teams are 4-5 members. If we have 3 members in every team, we will start. Other team members can join the event as they get in.We CANNOT start without all the teams ready to go. So please be considerate to your team and other teams and arrive on time.

Last Minute Dropouts and Additions: Every participant owes it to his/her team to be on time and come to the event if he/she has signed up. If for some reason you cant make it, please, please let the organizer know no later than Saturday 5 pm.

Team Names: We would have liked each team to have its own cool name. But only three teams have submitted their names. We will use a generic assigned name for all other teams.

Financials: We will publish the financials of the event after all accounts are settled, a few weeks after the event.

Prizes: Every member of the first place team will receive a $15 gift card. Second place team members will receive a $10 gift card and the third place team members each get a $5 gift card. This is unprecedented for a CIC event and many thanks to BB Travel Experts for making this possible.

The Quiz Master's decision is final and binding. Team members do not constitute as Desi Helpline for other teams for any reason. As you can see, the Desi Helpline can and will play a critical role in the game. Get your non-participating friends and family to back you up. Every person counts. Quiz master will describe the rules of each round before it starts. Please stay attentive to make sure you know all your options.

We have the hall only until 5. So we will keep a brisk pace and distractions will only delay the proceedings. As you can see, we have a packed schedule and really need your cooperation to finish on time.

Finally, bring your best spirit. The questions are not difficult at all. Everyone will either know the answer or will realize the answer was on the tip of their tongue. The rounds, scoring and logistics are designed to give every team a fair shot at winning. Good Luck!
